This week on Face the Nation, Bob Schieffer had Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal on the show to discuss what the Republican party needs to do to help rebuild it's image to the American people. On Face the Nation this week Republican Governor from Louisiana Bobby Jindal said there three things that the Republicans can do to make a stronger push in 2012. "Number one, we have got to stop defending the kind of spending and out-of-control spending that we would never tolerate in the other side. You know, when voters tell us that they trust Democrats more to cut their taxes [and] control spending, that tells you something is wrong with the Republican Party. We've got to match our actions with our rhetoric. "Number two, we've got to stop defending the kinds of corruption we would rightfully criticize in the other party. The week before the election, our most senior senator is convicted on federal charges - and that's only the latest example. "Number three, we have got to be the party that offers real solutions to the problems that American voters, American families are worried about. We don't need to abandon our conservative principles; we can't just be the 'party of no.' We need to offer real solutions on making health care more affordable, on the economic challenges facing families, on the international threats."
For the Republicans to make a push for 2012, they will defiantly have to do all of these things. The Republicans in this election didn’t seem to be in connect with the American people, and that’s what hurt them. America is struggling and we need help, and when people looked at the Republican Party, they didn’t see the help they needed. Bobby Jindal said they have got to be the party that offers real solutions to the problems those American voters, and it’s obvious that in this election, they weren’t. Barack Obama won by a small amount in the popular vote, so that should leave Republicans hopefully for improvement for 2012. Barack Obama has four years to prove to the American people that he is the right man for the job. Republicans shouldn’t be hoping for an Obama downfall just so they can get a Republican in office, that’s not the type of support we need.

I agree with how you said that Republicans shouldn't be looking for Obama to fail in order to get into office. I think that lately politicians have been getting into a mentality where they try to convince the voters,"Well, you see how bad the last administration did, so you should vote for me because I am better, I am the alternative." Republicans are notorious for focusing on negativity, but they need to realize that this tactic is losing its appeal. They need to get out of the hole they dug up in order to be successful again.
On the episode of Face the Nation this weekend Bobby Jindal spoke of regulations that need to change or be rearranged so our country could be stronger in several years. One of the first regulations he spoke was to stop defending the amount of spending that was never tolerated on the other side. He explains that something is wrong when they are putting more trust in Democrats in doing so. The second was to stop defending the corruption for rightful criticizing in the other party. And the last example he saying was that the party he is in explaining and offering real solutions to the problems that are occurring around us. The party he is in needs to offer better health care to the middle class. Pay attention to the international threats. What we are doing right now is not enough.
When America saw what the Republicans were doing in Wall Street they started thinking more bad stuff about the republican party leaving them to lean more towards the democrats, and maybe they had the better idea in trying to change the economy. Hopefully by 2012 president Obama will have changed a lot in the country with the promises he has made. When Bob was going through some statistics it was clear that John McCain was lacking some votes from all nationalities like Hispanics and African Americans. The American public clearly wanted to vote for change.
When Bob Schieffer asked the Governor of Louisiana, Bobby Jindal, what the republican party needed to do to fix its image, his reply was simple. First he said that the Republican party needed to stop defending out of control spending. Second that they needed to stop deffending corruption that they critize of the other party. Finally, the Republicans need to become the political party that will provide real solutions to the citizens' problems.
For some reason Jindal made it seem as though it was a bad thing that the public is turning to the Democratic party for help. I feel that the Republicans need to do more than just those three things if they want to gain the citizens' trust back. Also, if Obama has a successful term as president, I think that it will be hard for a Republican to be elected to office.

I agree with your comment. The Republican party has a lot to accomplish if they want to be elected into office. I feel that our political society would function better if the Republicans and the Democrats would just put their differences aside and work together. In the end, they are both working toward the same goal, to improve our economy, so why not help each other out.

I agree with your comment. The public voted for Obama because we wanted change. If he keeps his promises, it will be hard for a republican to get voted into office.

I also think that in order for the Republicans to make it into office in 2012 they need to connect more with the American people. We are still in an economic crisis, so that is what Americans are currently worried about. Out-of-control government spending only makes the government possibly lose the trust of people. It also makes the government, or party, look bad doing so during an economic crisis.

I agree with your comment. I think that the Republican party shouldn't even be thinking of criticizing the other party. Two main reasons for this is because the shouldn't be defending themselves with their control of spending and stoping corruption first of all because the main corruption and economic issues were done during this last eight years of presidency of the Republican George Bush.
I think that if they really want to clean up their imagen they should start by stop criticizing the other party and admittng their mistakes and working on them because if they can't see their mistakes its going to be pretty hard to do anything.

I also believe if Barack Obama has a successful four year term it’ll be hard for a republican to get into office. Obama is very well liked now, and he hasn’t even made a presidential decision. Hopefully he can back up everything he has said to the American people like getting the troops out of Iraq, cut taxes and fix our health care industry. If he can do everything, it’s going to be very hard for republicans to win in 2012.

I thought that this was a great interview. Bobby Jindal laid out the facts and went straight to the point. I also agree that the three points that Jindal made are key for the Republican Party to have success in 2012. George Bush lost a lot of credibility for the Republican Party. On the brighter side, there are some new characters on the rise for the Republicans and Bobby Jindal is one of them. He is pretty young, and I'm interested to see what he does and what kind of moves he makes in these next few years.
Bobby Jindal mainly talked about how Republicans point fingers too much, and take responsibility to little. He said that Republicans shouldn't allow things to happen in the GOP that they wouldn't normally allow elsewhere. He also said that if people are mainly trusting Democrats to cut taxes, that there is a serious problem in the Republican party. He also had this to say: "We've got to be

I think that Gov. Jindal is completely right. There is corruption in government, and instead of condemning only Democrats for their actions, every one should be responsible for their actions...including Republicans. He also made the point a few times that Republicans need to offer REAL solutions. This, in my opinion, is one of the most vital parts of the Republican Party's image make over. The GOP doesn't need more rhetoric, they need real solutions to real problems. This is the only way the Republican Party can get in the right direction.

I agree that it'll take more than just those three things for the Republicans to gain their credibility back. Right now they just aren't appealing to the wants and needs of the American people. I think that this is mainly because of George Bush. Having George Bush as the main face of the Republican Party has caused a major decline in their popularity and credibility. I think that if the Republicans can find the right people to represent the party and expose their identities and ideas to the public throughout the next four years, they should be able to bounce back.

I agree that there are more than three things that need to be done to boost the Republican Party. Gov. Jindal was just giving three things that he thought were the most important. I also think that the 2012 election is going to greatly depend on how Obama does during his presidency. If he does well, a reelection is most probable.

I agree with you. Barack Obama has a lot to do in the years he's office and I believe he is going to do a good job in accomplishing his promises. The Republican party has to do a lot also in trying to bring their party back up. They do have to offer real solutions and not hold off on anything because that is one of the reasons they got voted into office.
Republicans are losing momentum with the fellow Americans and it shows in popularity and in office. How can the Republicans reconstruct their image? Well when asked Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana replies with 3-step method.

Governor Jindal explains that the Republican party needs to control what they support and gain back the peoples trust, because voters feel more secure with Democrats to cut taxes and controlling spending. Also matching actions with words is a must.
Step 2: “Number two, we’ve got to stop defending the kinds of corruption we would rightfully criticize in the other party.”
Step two pretty much means to stop office members from destroying the name of the Republican by their corruption and felony charges.
Step 3: “Number three, we have got to be the party that offers real solutions to the problems that American voters, American families are worried about.”
Governor Jindal noted that offering real solutions to the problems that American voters worried about doesn’t mean to abandon conservative principles but to handle policy agendas that connects with the people on a international level.
The Republicans need to reconstruct a fresh image of what they stand for. With the misfortune of George W. Bush and the reputation he built around the party’s name gives the Republican Party an obstacle. Why wait till 2012? Why not start now? Its never to late to show improvement, just because the election over doesn’t mean to stop now, it just gives more time for preparations. Like any sport team you study your flaws, your opponents strategy, rebuild your own strategy and improve, improve, improve. As a new election opens up, get ready to pump up the crowd and sell your parties name. I won’t say it’s the end of the Republican Party, but a wake up call to step up their game.

I agree on the point that the Republicans need to do more than those 3 things. The Republicans image has not been so good lately so it will very hard to come back from that. Also on the point if Obama has a successful term. He brings America back on to its feet I see the chances of a Republican winning the 2012 election slim to none.

i agree that the republican party didn't connect as much as they should have with american people which really did hurt them. Also, I hope that Obama doesn't fail, but i seem that that would be the only way a repblican could get into office.

I agree with your statement, "In the end, they are both working toward the same goal, to improve our economy, so why not help each other out." When things get difficult for someone to handle, it seems like a more logical reason to ask for help. We can't always do something one way because we don't know how things will turn out. Isn't that the reason why we do rough drafts of essays? We turn them in to get corrected, to see the mistakes that happen. The same goes for our plans, we need to get someone elses opinion to avoid problems.

I agree with what you said about how the Republican’s shouldn’t be hoping for an Obama downfall. Some of the Republican voters and the Independent voters looked back at these past years with a Republican president in office and noticed all the damage that has been done so they decided to vote for a fresh Democratic candidate in hopes that he will be able to dig us out of the rut we have fallen into. The Republican party saw the effect that past bad governing had on this presidential election voting and wants to believe that if Obama were to fail in office then the public would vote for a Republican in 2012 to fix the problems a Democrat caused. I believe this is like a science experiment gone wrong with both parties using the United States as a guinea pig to test out their strategies on how to get their party the majority power in the House. The United States needs the Republicans and Democrats to work together not compete for power in government.
